Poor Qulaity Product

,

By Wonton
from New York
"Bought this B&S engine in summer of 2013 to replace another 190 cc B&S 675 series engine on a Huskee 22-ton log splitter, which blew during the second year of operation and started spewing oil everywhere. Engine had been properly maintained and oil was changed.
The new engine (B&S 675 series with Ready Start) was hard starting and ran rough from day one, becoming harder to start after warming up, and eventually refusing to even run more than two seconds. How many ways can you say junk?"

Great simple engine

"Motor was exactly as shown and works great except i installed it on a small 1974 mowett mustang rider that had the original 5hp briggs and stratton. Needless to say power was good and very easy to set up. needs throttle linkage hook-up, otherwise it only has the throttle lever on the engine."

Perfect Replacement

"I needed a replacement engine for my lawn mower. This engine fit perfectly, but Briggs and Stratton engines aren't built like they once were. They now have a lot of plastic in them, so they've lost most of the ruggedness.
Great service (as usual) from Northern Tool. Fast Shipping and they have the items in stock.

"This motor was to replace our log splitter motor. It arrived ahead of schedule and installed very quickly. Fired right up and going strong. I believe this is better than the one that was replaced."

Good Replacement Engine

,
July 10, 2007
By AlFromMO

"I used this engine to replace a worn out engine on an old DR string trimmer. Fit pretty well but as expected I had to drill new mounting holes. Plenty of power. Much lighter than the original engine (which also had electric starter that no longer worked). Since I could not get the old pulley off I wound up getting a new one at a local farm and home.
The engine does surge a bit when the trimmer is disengaged. It probably needs a flywheel or blade, but it is not a real problem.
This engine starts great when it is cold. But after it gets hot its not at all easy to re-start. I think the fancy automatic choke is the problem but have not tried disabling it -- I just cuss at it until it starts (maybe 10 pulls later)."
