So far so good!,

"Ordered it and received it in a timely fashion. Unpacked it, took a quick look at the manuals, oil and gas and it’s been running great for about 3 weeks now. Bought it for a 1000 sq ft paver project and then a 130 ft retaining wall, and this is just perfect for me. Starts great and works real well. Bonus: Ordered it at the web price and checked the site about a week later. It was on sale for a little over $100 off. I called Northern Tool and the girl I spoke with promptly refunded the difference, no hassles. One minor quibble, you get two manuals with this, one for the Honda engine, very detailed and concise. The other is for the plate compactor itself. This could have been a bit better. Wasn’t terrible, but could have been a bit more complete in my opinion. Overall, very satisfied and would recommend this product…especially for this great price."

"Filled it with oil and gas, fired it up and went right to work.
The Honda engine and compactor performed well.
After initial operation in dusty conditions, the engine would not return to idle.
An application of WD-40 on throttle and govener linkages fixed the problem.
Subsequent operation in somewhat less dusty conditions was problem free.

Dependable, contractor grade compactor,

"This compactor is as good or better than any I have rented in the past.
Compaction lbs/sq inch is more than adequate for my needs - mostly class A gravel and crusher fines every 6" or so - for swimming pools and lanscaping base / foundations for stone work.
It gets used daily and is transported all over the region.
The only small issue with the machine was the throttle control lever on the handle, but they never last anyway. I have never seen one on a rental that lasted more than a week. Anyway, I disabled mine because it was not working properly for a couple of reasons and I didn't have the time to try to make it work more than once.
Other than that, It is a good, tough, dependable machine. It starts every time, the first time.
